Csr in China : A philanthropic response to the Sichuan Earthquake

Globalization causes companies from all over the world to adapt their business policies to an internationally accepted level. Since corporate practices are deeply influenced by cultural and institutional factors, their development varies from country to country. The Chinese case study, for instance, presents some indigenous characteristics which have nothing in common with the Western CSR practices. These are to be related to the peculiar historical and economic development China has faced and to some specific cultural settings which are not to be found anywhere else in the world. This paper aims at investigating the peculiarities of CSR practices of the Chinese context after the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake.
