Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2014 in the subject Pedagogy - Common Didactics, Educational Objectives, Methods, grade: "A", Atlantic International University (SOCIAL AND HUMAN STUDIES - ATLANTIC INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY), course: EDUCATION, language: English, abstract: This research investigated about "An Efficacy of Learner Disciplinary Measures on Improving Academic Performance in Secondary Schools: A Case Study of Sirisia District Within Bungoma County in Kenya, and Arumeru District Within Arusha Region in Tanzania." The research problem was to find out how students' disciplinary measures could enhance academic performance. However, the study was further guided by three research objectives for instance, to identify the connection of students' disciplinary measures against poor academic performance, to identify teachers' experiences of disciplinary measures' contribution on academic performance and to identify how effective discipline measures adopted by teachers can enhance moral discipline. Behaviorist learning and Efficacy theories were significant to enhance the relationship of the study with other findings. Qualitative research methodology was relevant in this study. However, Questionnaires were distributed to respondents in the selected schools and further, informal discussions were conducted for the justification of data collected from the questionnaire. Figures, Tables and Charts were applied in the presentation of data for simple interpretation. Findings, however, revealed that students' performance was necessarily enhanced through corrective, supportive and preventive discipline strategies. The Ministries of Education in both nations need to sensitize teachers on how to administer discipline that can adequately harmonize both behavior and academic improvements
