Studies on Pulsatile Delivery of Meloxicam Solid Deispersion : Enhancement of solubility and Chronotherapeutic study

Bok av Umesh Mukhija
The concern today is not just to produce elegant and accurate dosage form but also to ensure that optimum amount of drug reaches the target site at an optimal rate and its concentration is maintained for entire duration of therapy Drugs with poor water solubility present a big challenge for the formulation scientists. In spite of extensive studies, the enhancement of dissolution rate of poorly water soluble drugs remains a challenge for the scientific community. A poor solubility results in poor availability for absorption which may ultimately lead to delayed onset of action and diminished therapeutic response. A wide range of technologies are currently available for improving the solubility of drugs. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that may affect many tissues and organs, but principally attacks the joints. When patients with rheumatoid arthritis wake up in the morning they feel morning stiffness and pain in their joints. Therefore in the present work an attempt was made to delay the release of drug using pulsatile delivery approach, so that morning stiffness could be reduced.
