This book investigates the causes of forest clearing in Ethiopia, deforestation is hidden cause of climate change, and various variables are included as the main cause of deforestation in Ethiopia. The concept of subsistence and market approach model is used in addition to the econometrics and regression model. Thus the empirical result shows most of the variables included shows significant relationship with forest area used to capture deforestation in Ethiopia. The result suggests that the increase in food price and increase in population density are the major culprit for deforestation in Ethiopia. Agricultural value added, fertilizer price, and coffee price have insignificant or very little positive and negative effect on the Ethiopian forest area. Gross domestic products per capita have positive and highly significant effect on the expansion of Ethiopian forest area coverage or in reducing deforestation. The result also shows social unrest have positive impact on Ethiopian forest area. The empirical result also confirm that climate change variables, temperature have negative relationship with forest area used for deforestation and precipitation have positive relationship with
