Broiler Chicken Fed Yeast and Enzyme Supplemented High Fiber Diets : Effect of Yeast and Enzyme Supplementation on the Performance of Broiler Chicken Fed High Fiber Diets

Bok av Tufail Banday
Crude fiber level in the diet of broiler chicken can be increased upto 8 per cent with the supplementation of enzyme without having deleterious effect on their performance. Yeast supplementation to sunflower based diet did not show any significant (p>0.05) effect on growth performance of broiler chicken fed high fiber diets. Of the two additives employed for degradation of crude fiber, enzymes appeared to have been more effective than yeast in degrading crude fiber. The concentration of calcium, phosphorus, SGPT and SGOT levels were increased resulting in a better growth performance however serum cholesterol levels were decreased in the group fed enzyme supplemented diets The net returns per bird were increased as a result of enzyme supplementation in the diets of broiler chicken. There was no significant difference in the carcass characteristics among different groups except for the length of GI tract and weight of gizzard which showed a significant difference.
