Development of Ethosomal Gel for Topical Delivery of Metronidazole

Bok av Jagiwala Viral
Ethosomes are soft, malleable vesicles composed mainly of phospholipids, ethanol (relatively high concentration) and water. These "soft vesicles" represents novel vesicular carrier for enhanced delivery to/through skin. The size of ethosomes vesicles can be modulated from tens of nanometers to microns. Product monograghs and reports on metronidazole suggest, metronidazole has less topical bioavailability (100 times less as compare with oral dosing). Ethosomes have been reported as topical permeability enhancer. It has improved topical permeability of drugs. Here attempt is made for improvement in topical bioavailability of metronidazole through incorporation in to ethosomal carrier system.
