Corticosteroids : Their Role in Oral Diseases

Corticosteroids are used in the management of several systemic diseases. These drugs are used to treat oral diseases that result from undesirable immune reaction. The basic use of steriods is to limit post-operative inflammation. Corticosteroids are used as as intracanal medicaments to reduce pulpal inflammation, ulcerative conditions, vesiculobullous diseases, orofacial granulomatosis, temporal arteritis and other oral mucosal disorders. This book provides information regarding the basic physiologic and pharmacologic aspects, clinical application of corticosteroids with special emphasis on their role in dentistry.
