Civil Society Collaboration Challenges in Zimbabwe : The case of Mutare District

The civil society groupings and NGOs are a formidable force in any given society to restrain excessive powers exerted by authoritarian governments against their citizens. Cooperative efforts amongst these societal groupings have been explored in Mutare-Zimbabwe to ascertain collaboration challenges amid the pervasive socio-economic and political predicaments faced by the citizens. The prevailing challenges such as constricted and stifled civil participation premised a conducive environment for civil collaboration to successfully eradicate bad governance in the country. However, the study established that there has been minimum collaboration among civil society organizations and NGOs however not enough to resolve challenges faced by the Zimbabwean citizenry.
