Phenotypic Characterization Of Jalali Pigeon : Morphological, productive and reproductive characteristics of Jalali Pigeon

Jalali pigeon is an important genetic resource of Bangladesh. Mean body length, wing span, shank length, bill length and head length of mature Jalali pigeon were 33.280.18, 64.370.20, 3.080.02, 2.040.01 and 3.660.02 cm, respectively. Mean body weight of Jalali pigeon at 3-day, 15-day, 1-month and 5-month of age were 31.681.08, 225.533.89, 275.591.48 and 324.793.41 gm, respectively. The egg weight, egg length and width, hatching period, fledgling period and interclutch period of Jalali pigeon were 16.180.08 gm, 3.750.006 and 2.810.005 cm, 18.000.09, 35.800.22 and 32.330.66 days, respectively. The color of body, bill, skin, shank, toe, eye, eyelid, eggs, and head, neck, body, wing, tail and down feather, and shape of body, bill and eggs of Jalali pigeon were gray, gray black with white cere, pink, red, red with grayish black claw, black cornea encircled with orange color ring, gray, white, and dark gray, dark blue gray with violet, gray, pale gray with two black bands, gray with black tipped and white, and round, curve and oval, respectively.
