Efficacy of Cpp-Acp &; Cpp-Acpf on Micro Hardness of Bleached Enamel

Teeth when subjected to bleaching bring about the desiccation of the enamel, making it to reduce in its microhardness. While subjecting the freshly bleached enamel surface to various surface treatments of Casein Phosphopeptide - Amorphous Calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) and Casein Phosphopeptide - Amorphous Calcium phosphate fluoride (CPP-ACPF) brought about the increase in its microhardness, which is assessed in this study. The bleached samples showed reduction in microhardness of enamel and also differences was found between post bleaching and samples subjected to remineralizing agents CPP-ACP and CPP-ACPF. However, CPP-ACPF showed higher KHN values compared to CPP-ACP, but was not statistically significant. This study concluded that both CPP-ACP (GC Tooth Mousse) and CPP-ACPF (GC Tooth Mousse Plus) are equally effective in preventing loss of enamel microhardness due to 15% Carbamide Peroxide bleaching agent.
