Ethnopharmacological Investigation of the Spice Kaempferia Galanga : Biological screening of the rhizome and leaf of Kaempferia galanga (Family-Zingiberaceae)

Bok av Dash Pritesh Ranjan
In this ethnopharmacological study, the acetone extract of rhizome (ACR), as well as petroether fraction (PEF), chloroform fraction (CHF), methanol fraction (MEF), and acetone extract of leaf (ACL) were subjected to pharmacological activity test. Phytochemical study revealed the presence of carbohydrates, tannins, flavonoids, proteins, steroids, alkaloids and resins in the crude extract of Kaempferia galanga. In Swiss albino mice, analgesic, neuropharmacological and antidiarrhoeal activity were investigated. The extracts were also evaluated for cytototoxicity and antibacterial activity.
