Evaluation of Biomedical Waste Management System

Bok av Khalid Maryam
During the study, existing practices related to bio-medical waste management were examined based on intensive interviews, field-visits, and questionnaire. Field-visit includes observation of current practices of waste management, waste sampling, waste characterization and interviews to the staff to check reliability of provided information. Overall waste handling and management practices were good in the hospital. Staff nurses and ward sanitary staff were aware of hazards from infectious waste. The main gap that was observed in the hospital was their final storage room. It was not built according to required standards as it was built by British almost 100 years ago.
