Butterflies-Role Threats and Conservation Measure in India
Bok av Selvaraju a
Butterflies are beautiful. Everyone enjoys watching a graceful butterfly drift through the air. They are at the bottom of the food chain. Butterflies are native to almost every part of the globe except Antarctica and the oceans. Different biomes, such as forests, grasslands, deserts, and alpine highlands, each support distinctive arrays of butterfly and moth species. In general, wooded habitats are more hospitable to moths, while butterflies prefer open, sunny settings. Butterflies may be found in flowery fields, meadows, and hillsides; along stream banks, roadsides, and the edges of woods; and in clearings, glades, and nature reserves of all sorts.India is one of the 17 "megadiverse" countries of the world. It is host to a spectacular number of butterflies: approximately 1,800 species and subspecies. About 15-20% of these are endemic to the Indian Region, which makes this an especially important region for butterfly diversity and conservation.
