Causes and Management of Psychiatric Patients' Aggression &; Violence

Aggression and violence are significant clinical problems in psychiatric settings, however, researches exploring violent behavior are limited and neglected area of investigation. Violent and aggressive behavior by psychiatric patients poses a major challenge to psychiatric staff and health planners because of the risks to the individuals involved in violent incidents and the implications of those risks for the organization of services. Management of violence and aggression is subdivided according to, short-term therapy (acute emergency patients), in which a rapid intervention is used to control the acute stages of violence, which often constitute a medical emergency.
