A Study of Micro RNA Expression Profiles in Ischaemic Stroke : In search of the novel biomarker of stroke patients

Bok av Gan Chye Sheng
Ischaemic stroke is attributed to vascular and circulation disorder. Besides protein biomarker, RNA profiles have also been identified as markers of ischaemic stroke. Micro RNA represents a class of small single stranded non-coding RNA that regulate gene expression on the post transcriptional level. In this edition, the author explores the regulation of the selected circulating micro RNA in healthy volunteers and young ischaemic stroke patients. The expression profiles were cataloged and discussed, in detail, the biological processes involved. The author demonstrates the feasibility of micro RNA as a prognostic biomarker that can aid clinical evaluation to improve the management of ischaemic stroke patients.
