Thus NREGA covered that entire country with the exception of districts that have a hundred percent urban population. This programme has been formulated by merging early formulated programmes such as Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) of 2001 and National Food for Work Programme (NFFWP) of 2004. Again the Government of India on 2nd October, 2009 renamed its flagship rural job guarantee programme- National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Central Government is making larger public expenditure under MGNREGA. In the recent budget (2013-14), an allocation of Rs. 38,309.7 crores has been made for MGNREGA, which is an increase of 3.23 percent over the 2011-12 budgets (1237 crores). In India 35,49,03,669, in Maharashatra 1,03,36,684, in Marathwada region 14,61,376 and in Parbhani 13,7,223 household can get employment from the MGNREGA till the financial year 2013-14. And in India 21,87,0,136 lakh Rs, in Maharashtra 58, 4,952 lakh Rs, in Marathwada region 14, 1,376 lakh Rs and in Parbhani 8,492 lakhs Rs. Laboure expenditure and material expenditure invested on MGNREGA till the financial year 2013-14.
