They modify the local climate , reduce soil erosion , regulate the stream flow, improve the ground water and also the condition of floods , increase precipitation and provide shelter to fauna and flora and also to the human population. Plant Ecology is defined as the study of organisms in reciprocal relationship with their environment . Therefore forest Ecology should be the study of a forest in reciprocal relationship with its environment . The studies on resources Ecological Diversity and Economics of individual tree species becomes important from the point of view of exploring the Ecological and Economic importance of specific species.
