Schiff Base Complexes with Benzil and Sulfanilamide

Bok av Kousar Samra
Some new first row transition metal complexes of Schiff base obtained from Sulfonamide and Benzil were prepared and characterized on the basis of UV-Vis spectroscopy, IR spectral data, atomic absorption studies and conductometric measurements. Ligand was found to be bidentate and atomic absorption studies revealed [M(L)2.(Cl)2] configuration for all complexes, where two chloro groups are attached to fifth and six coordination sites of the metal. Conductometric measurements suggested electrolytic nature of all metal complexes. The ligand as well as its complexes with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Cr(III) were evaluated for their in-vitro antibacterial activity against some bacterial species, like E.coli, Mycobacterium Smegmatis and Pseubomans Aeuroginosa. Antibacterial activities were found to occur for Schiff base & lt; transition metal complexes.
