The indigenous pigs are scavengers, medium to large size, somewhat semi-wild in their behaviour and possess good mothering ability. The productive and reproductive traits of these animals have convinced the piggery farmers to take up piggery as a source of income generation. The native types still represent a valuable component of genetic resources.
