Chalcogenide elements in group VI of the periodic table which include: Sulfur, Selenium, and Tellurium, combine with other elements from groups IV, V, and VI to form Chalcogenides. These alloys, especially Selenium-based are extensively used in the formation of photo cells, solar cells, rectifiers, and in phase change memory devices. Doping enhances the materials' strength, rigidity, and improves its electrical, optical, and structural properties.
