Medicinal plants play a key role in the human health care. About 80% of the world population makes use of plant based traditional medicine for treating their ailments. Although herbal medicines are effective in the treatment of various diseases, only very few drugs are scientifically studied and properly used. This necessitates scientific study of these plant drugs to make them fit to be used by general population. Liver has a pivotal role in regulation of physiological processes. It is involved in several vital functions. Liver diseases are among the most serious ailment. The book describes the hepatoprotective potential of Phyllanthus amarus against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver damage in female mice.
