Fluoride (F) is a natural, ubiquitous, non-biodegradable and hazardous pollutant. Understanding the effects of environmental contaminants on the genome is crucial for preserving the evolutionary potential of natural populations, as genetic diversity provides potential to adapt to environmental changes. To investigate its effect, Cicer arietinum seeds were treated with NaF and its effect was studied on germination, antioxidant enzyme activity, and RAPD profile. Studies Genetic alterations by RAPD analysis could be used as an investigation tool for environmental toxicology and risk assessment.
