Evaluation of Wild and Cultivated Jatropha (Jatropha Curcas L.) : For Oil, Bio-gas and Bio-fertilizer Production

Bok av Abdalmola Abdalrhaman Mohamed Salih Musa
One of the renewable sources gained importance at the beginning of this century is Jatropha oil. Oil is one of the main products of Jatropha seeds, large amount of seed cake produced as by product. Due to toxicity, seed cake is neither be used as animal feed nor in agricultural farming. The generation of biogas from cake is considered the optimum solution while the slurry would be used as bio-fertilizer. The biogas produced can provide energy for heating, cooking, lightening and engine operations. A few studies have been conducted on anaerobic digestion of Jatropha seed cake. This book covers abroad range of Jatropha uses and which treatments were used to release the toxicity of seed cake and microorganisms involved in the fermentation process.
