A welcome addition to the repertoire of violin students, chamber music players and soloists. This edition of arias from Mozart's "Magie Flute" is based on an arrangement for two violins or two flutes, published in 1792. The aim of the new edition is to enhance the skilful work of the contemporary arrangers by utilizing the larger range of the violin and adding double stops and chords. The articulation has been adjusted in several instances to the requirements of a string instrument. This made it possible to approximate more closely the harmonic progressions in Mozart's work and to make the dramatic nature of some of the pieces more effective. The technical demands of this edition do not exceed the capabilities of good musical amateurs. Studying these marvellous arias will surely be a source of enjoyment to all violin players.
