God as a judge - this biblically central idea creates difficulties for modern people. The study examines the New Testament expectation of a "day" on which God or Christ will judge the world. Moments of continuity to the Old Testament and early Jewish tradition are just as visible as Christologically motivated new accents. The author questions the end day expectation with its partly objectionable pages about their theological meaning then and now and gives impulses for an appropriate handling of the biblical speech of the final judgment.
