Tungsten Transport Processes in Ultra-High Pressure Mercury Lamps

Bok av Mark Carpaij
In this thesis, experiments are carried out to quantify the transport. A distinction is made between the short-timescale restructuring shown in the middle image of Fig. 1.3, and the transport on a long timescale. Next, we develop a set of physical mechanisms which could possibly account for the observed transformation, and propose a research approach to model both pathways. These mechanisms are estimated for its relevance in relation to observation, and finally we construct a tungsten transport model taking into account transport of tungsten through the high-pressure mercury plasma.
