Electrogeneration of Hydroxyl Radicals for Water Disinfection : USING IRON-OXYGEN BATTERY VIA FENTON'S REACTION

Bok av Zelo Anatole Mangombo
An electrochemical cell has shown successfully tested in this project to generate OH radical from Fe/O2 battery via Fenton's reaction under various working conditions for water disinfection. The cell contained two electrodes where iron (Fe) acts as an anode and oxygen (O2) acts as a cathode. Sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) was selected as a background electrolyte in all experiments to produce OH radical in-situ in an acidic solution aqueous by oxidation of iron (II) with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) using a Reticulated Vitreous Carbon (RVC) as a catalyst.
