Nutritional Zinc Deficiency, Immune Capacity And Malaria : A study on mediators of immunity to malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum in African children

Erasto Vitus Mbugi is a postdoc Researcher from the Muhimbili University of Health, School of Medicine and Allied Sciences. Erasto's background is Veterinary Medicine with specialization in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Masters Level. His previous studies have mainly been based on malaria, evaluating the genetic markers of resistance to SP and multiplicity of infections. Erasto holds a PhD on Nutrition and Immune Capacity to Malaria focusing on effects of zinc and magnesium deficiencies on T-Cell responses and cytokine production. He is currently enrolled in SACIDS project under the theme 'Molecular analysis and epidemiological survey of tuberculous and non- tuberculous Mycobacterium (human and animal) isolates from southern Africa and assessment of non TB strains in human clinical disease'. The main aim of the theme is to generate the profile of TB resistance across the southern Africa.
