Cultures of Limpopo : History, Culture, the Tangible and the Intangible Heritage of the People of Limpopo Province, South Africa

Bok
This book is based on research that was initiated by the post-apartheid government of South Africa and the scholars of 'African Renaissance', with the aim to unearth, revive and reaffirm the indigenous cultural heritage of the entire demography of the country's indigenous people. The book itself is a product of a team effort by scholars of IKS, the region's African Royal Leadership, the IKS practitioners and the many well-known custodians of heritage. In sum, this book is a collection of reports, albeit preliminary, on research conducted in the Limpopo province of the Republic of South Africa. The book focuses on the history, cultures and traditions of the diverse people of the region, covering both the tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Cultures of Limpopo is, in a way, a snapshot of Limpopo province's conglomerate cultures - a source that is indispensible for any kind of ethnographic researcher aiming to conduct a study in the province, and South Africa on the whole. Undoubtedly, the book could be helpful to policy makers, curriculum planners and professionals in the cultural industries of modern-day Africa.
