Edible Energy : The carbon consequences of diverting commercial food waste from landfill to sewage treatment works for co-digestion

Bok av Robyn Kimber
Fossil fuels are getting scarce and green house gas concentrations are reaching dangerous levels.Simultaneously the UK is sending 11 million tonnes offood waste per year to landfill. There is thepossibility that this same waste currentlycontributing to green house gas emissions could beharboured for renewable energy. This study examinesthe carbon dioxide equivalent emissions of divertingcommercial food waste from landfill to sewagetreatment works for co-digestion with sewage sludge.
