Recreational waters are those natural waters used not only for primary contact activities, such as swimming, windsurfing, and waterskiing, but also for secondary contact activities, such as boating and fishing. Recreational water quality criteria are used to assess the safety of water to be used for swimming and other water-sport activities. The primary concern is to protect human health by preventing water pollution from faecal material or from contamination by micro-organisms that could cause gastro-intestinal illness, ear, eye or skin infections. This study was conducted to learn about the quality status of the water at recreational spots in Chittagong City these are Foy's Lake, Chittagong Shisu Park, Karnafuly Shisu Park, Zia Smriti Complex, Zatishonga Park andf Vatiary Lake. Derived parameters are Conductivity, Turbidity, Color, Odor, PH, Dissolve Oxygen, Biological Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Sulfate and Nitrate of the collected water samples were compared with the standard value of the respective parameters. The study suggests that most of the collected samples satisfied the required level of the expected parameters used for recreational purposes.
