Effects Of Geo-Helminthiases On Occupational Health : The Public Health Education Perspective On Epidemiologic Approach To Control Of Geo-Helminthiases

Bok av Benedict M Mwenji
This book has been written to provide clinical knowledge and quality information on International Occupational Health relating to Geo-helminthiases. These infections cause chronic ill-health and patho-physiological changes in the body that affect the lives of millions of occupational and industrial workers worldwide. These infections are caused by geo-helminths collectively known as (Soil-Transmitted Helminths);they are intestinal round worms, recognized as a growing International Public Health menace by a Committee of Experts on Helminthiases of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1964. Since 1960s, wide-scale control programmes have been designed and mounted in many countries around the world, especially within the tropics and sub-tropics, but the results have been extremely disappointing and far from satisfactory. It is for these reasons that this text has been produced to provide insight on the current, WHO-recommended Control and Preventive Measures .
