Textual Analysis of Neologisms in Selected British Papers
Bok av Rafi M. Hussein Al-Mahdawi
Jinan Abdul Razzaq Al Heety
A neologism is a newly coined term, word, or a phrase that may be in the process of entering common use. It is often directly attributable to a specific person, publication, period, or event. In this book, neologisms that appeared between 1990-2012 in three British newspapers: The Times, The Guardian, and The Independent, are analysed trying to trace the semantic processing phases of neologisms and their expansion in terms of linguistic and extra linguistic variables. This book falls into five chapters and presents fantastic conclusions. Prof. Sabah S. Al-Rawi (PhD) reviewed that it is well-written and that the material is presented in a lucid and eminently readable manner. He highly recommend it to students of linguistics and translation. As a source of student project, it represents a valuable book for those who work in the field of linguistic research as it is easy to follow being written in a highly accessible and enjoyable style. He added that this kind of research could be well expanded in future studies.
