Chemistry of Azaindenes : Synthetic Strategies, Chemical Transformations and Biological Activities

Bok av Fathy M El-Taweel
The considerable biological and medicinal activities of azaindenes have prompted considerable research aimed at developing synthetic routes to these ring systems. A search of the literature revealed large numbers of azaindene ring systems that lit these criteria [1-14]. This review contains a selection of the recently reported data and includes updates of the chemistry of azaindene ring systems. The reported synthetic routes to azaindenes are classified according to the size of the formed rings. Thus, five membered rings were formed via (4+1), (3+2) atom combinations and the six membered rings were obtained via (5+1), (4+2) or (3+3) atom combinations. The two rings could be formed via one - pot synthesis.
