Mixed Yeast Infections : Some Mycological and Molecular Biology Studies on Mixed Yeast Infection

Bok av Shimaa Abou-Elmagd
Different yeast species may exist singly or in combination with each other, they infect human, different animal species as well as poultry. In Qena Governorate (Upper Egypt), some of these isolates were identified with the ordinary mycological methods, biochemical assays and molecular biological techniques. Samples were collected from both diseased and apparently healthy different animal species and chickens. The number of samples examined mycologically was 4527 including faecal samples, rectal swabs, nasal swabs, vaginal swabs, ear swabs, milk samples, conjunctival swabs, blood samples, chicken viscera and cloacal swabs. They yielded 535 positive samples for different yeast species in a percentage of (11.81%).
