ForschungsCluster 6. Kontinuität und Diskontinuität, Prozesse der Romanisierung : Fallstudien zwischen Iberischer Halbinsel und Vorderem Orient. Ergebnisse der gemeinsamen Treffen der Arbeitsgruppen '

Bok av Thomas G Schattner
The volume resulted from annual meetings of the study groups from 2013-17 and contains bilingual forewords of cluster spokespersons and editors, an introduction [Gutsfeld], twelve case studies, and a bilingual conclusive paper on processes of Romanisation in general. The volume focussed on the general topic of the description of processes of Romanisation on the basis of the guidelines of continuity and discontinuity. The discussion was based on the theoretical concept of the French ancient historian Hervé Inglebert published in 2005. In the contributions of the book the applicability of Inglebert's model to the archaeological and numismatic reality were tested critically. This resulted in a presentation of case studies from all over the Imperium Romanum and thus bridged the gap between the Iberian Peninsula in the West and Egypt and the Orient in the East. Hereby it became quite clear that Inglebert's terminological instruments are very suitable for the description of phenomena of Romanisation because of his structuring perspective and can therefore generate considerable new knowledge and create much scientific benefit.
