Fips' Birthday : A Story from Golden Lane in Prague

The Golden Lane in Prague. In the past, its charming and colourful little houses were mainly inhabited by simple and poor people. For many centuries the gatekeepers - who guarded the castle gates - had their lodgings here. About fifty years ago, the last residents left the narrow Golden Lane. But the tiny alley is by no means unpopulated: All kinds of animals have moved into the rows of houses abandoned by the people - cats, sparrows, cockchafers, glow-worms - and even the little monkey Fips, the hero of this tale.
