Nicholas E. Heinze - novelist, journalist, playwright, lawyer. As a war correspondent took part in Russian-Japanese War of 1904-05. He published a book of essays "In the army" (1904, 1907). His first novel, "Skuratov Malyuta" published in 1891. Total of novels he has written several dozen ("Arakcheev", "Daughter of Peter the Great", "Generalissimo Suvorov", "Ermak T." et al.). Historic they can be called a stretch, shareware - because the names of the characters and historical dates. As a historian, Heinze has always resorted to compile as a novelist - his novels flooded the unrestrained fiction, have nothing to do with the historical truth as an artist has been nothing (by his own admission). But the unassuming readers of his book a success. Heinze wrote not only historical, but also of criminal domestic novels and stories ("The mud of the Bar," "Women's poison", "In the realm of ghosts," and so forth.). All of them were repeatedly republished. He wrote several plays, which caused a burst of criticism and attacks had success with the audience. Most critics wondered for what works like Heinze, saw his work as "mental food for the unsophisticated reader," probably underestimating the extent of the increased level of literacy in demand for light reading.
