Bok av D F Maslovskij
At the request of Crown Prince Alexander Alexandrovich (future emperor Alexander III), the War Department was requested to allocate the author to compile a book about the Crimean War, and in particular, the heroic defense of Sevastopol. So the author was chosen Colonel Dubrovin, already known specialist in this period, the former editor of "Sevastopol collection." Dubrovin had limitations at work, in particular, he was denied access to diplomatic and secret correspondence that does not fully reveal the underlying reason of the events. When the work was finished, it was not passed censorial inspection. Despite the good will of the heir, labor Dubrovin was decided not to publish, before the expiry of a number of secret documents referred to in the book. "The history of the Crimean War," published a quarter of a century later: Dubrovin did not further edit the text and published the very manuscript that once presented to Alexander.
