Materials for Russian Iconography. Issue 12.

Bok av D a Rovinskij
In 1882, D. Rovinskii published the book "Reliable portraits Muscovy: Ivan III, Vasily and Ivan IV - and the embassy of their time." This study was undertaken by the author of the first department of Russian iconography. Behind him we were to follow other departments. Materials for each of these departments have accumulated quite a lot, but nevertheless there are still significant gaps, which are not allowed to proceed to the systematic publication. But as fans and collectors of antiques insisted on publication, the author began to advance publication of pictures he had collected under the title "Materials for Russian iconography." These materials included portraits, views, historical and everyday sheets, made history for Russian engraving, engravers, silversmiths works, as well as prints from original vintage copper boards. All images, with a few exceptions, made in one measure with the originals. The most remarkable and rare executed on copper by the method G. Skamoni, or print from the glass through albertotipii (from Cher and Nabgolts in Moscow and abroad) and fotogialotipii (near the town of Skamoni); less rare and important pictures executed by means of photolithography.
