Venyukov Mikhail Ivanovich - geographer and traveler (1832 - 1901). At the end of the course the military academy has traveled along the Amur and Ussuri, in Transbaikalia, the Chu, Issyk-Kul in the Tien Shan, Altai and the Caucasus. He served in Poland, Chairman of the peasant question. In 1868, he traveled around the world; in 1869 - 71 years was in Japan and China, in 1874 - in Asiatic Turkey; It was at one time secretary of the Russian Geographical Society. From 1877 he lived mainly in Paris. In the eighties, he traveled to Algeria and Tunisia, in Senegambia, on the coast of Brazil and Uruguay, on the Antilles archipelago, and the Isthmus of Panama and Corsica. Of the numerous works deserve special attention Venyukova: "Journey to the Asian borders of Russia" (1868); "Sketches of Japan" (1869); "Description of the Japanese archipelago" (1871); "The experience of military descriptions of Russian-Asian border" (1873 - 76); "Essays on Contemporary China" (1874); "Essay on British possessions in Asia" (1875); "Russia and the East" (1877); "Essays on the history of Russia from the Crimean War to the Berlin World" (1878 - 80).
