The book discussed a range of issues related to the problems of description and experimental certification of individual boundaries and ensembles of grain boundaries in polycrystalline samples, as well as studies of their role in processes such as grain-boundary diffusion, relaxation and grain growth. An attempt was made to construct a sufficiently general model superplasticity based on experimentally established regularities concerning bands cooperative grain boundary sliding. The questions of the formation and evolution of the microstructure and texture of the ensemble of grain boundaries in materials produced by severe plastic deformation.
