Design of a solar PV energy system for Wajir town, Wajir county, Kenya

Bok av Mohamed Diyad Elmi
When I had the opportunity to pursue a degree in Masters of Science in Renewable Energy engineering Technology at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya, with majorly concentration on Geothermal, Solar, Wind, Biomass, Hybrid, Hydro Energy and Energy Economics, Bachelor of Science in Energy and environmental technology and diploma in electrical and electronics engineering, it exposed me to a wide range of interesting courses in it, provided me with answers to my childhood questions such as to solve the issue of electricity in my home town. Situated in the north-eastern part of Kenya with population of 0.7 million, Wajir county receives about 300 sunny days in a year. The unique weather profile favors the adoption of the solar energy technology. Therefore a comprehensive and effective approach of designing, assessing, analyzing and determining economic viability of solar energy availability in Wajir town was done.
