Bone cement is one of the most commonly used biomaterials in Orthopedics & Traumatology. It is widely used in total joint prosthesis as well as joint and bone reconstructions, fracture fixation and treatment of bone infections and osteoporosis-induced vertebral fractures. In this experiment on structural strengthening materials added in bone cement, silica fume is a potent construction material which enhances strength of bone cement as it is a strong material that mixes homogeneously with PMMA and is superior to other biocompatible materials used in pressure compression tests. Silica fume can be used in orthopedic surgery industry by studying biocompatibility. Such materials used in construction industry should be evaluated and should be attempted to use in orthopedic surgery.
