Some people bracket the "e;round table of life"e; and the "e;chattering in the city"e; of the magazine The New Yorker together, but I think there is nothing comparable, both columns are placed in front of the magazine, which is the only thing they have in common. I have never carefully read the "e;chattering in the city"e;, and I read The New Yorker only for its long feature, which is the highest standard for magazine writing. This is not to deny the value of the "e;round table of life"e;, at first, it is valuable, and it gives us some changes in the way we express ourselves. A few years ago, most of the essays in the newspapers and magazines were "e;prose"e; or "e;beautiful articles"e;, there were not so many columns and columnists, so the wanton, informative short articles in the "e;round table"e; can make an impression on people. There are, of course, many authors who exhibit the imagination and the sense of structure in such short articles, which is even more remarkable.
