Chinese Imperial Examination History

Bok av Lin Bai, Zhu Meisu
The book has two features: one is popular and brief. Content of this book includes all aspects of development history of imperial examinations, but it avoids tedious academic research with smooth illustration, like homemade to tell readers some main knowledge of imperial examination. For example, the book, with "e;Selection of Scholars on the Left and Right of The List"e; as the topic, very briefly explains various racial discrimination in the imperial examination in Yuan Dynasty while "e;The Miscellany of Foreign Scholar"e; clearly demonstrates the influence of Chinese imperial examination system on surrounding countries. The other one is interesting and readable. Knowledge about imperial examinations introduced in this book is not serious and boring. They are developed with interesting stories, demonstrating strong readability. For example, the section of "e;Both Wining or Failure are OK"e;, various mentality of examinees after the examination is reflected by small stories while in the section of "e;Celebrity of Imperial Examination and Lang Scholar"e; it was a interesting story, demonstrating people various expression of the Lang Scholar. Generally speaking, I read this book repeatedly and cannot help speaking highly of this book, thinking that the author ad done a meaningful thing. This book not only illustrates knowledge of imperial examination in ancient times effectively but also contributes to their further understanding of excellent traditional culture, which is so great. As matter of factor, imperial examination system is an important election system integrated with politics, education and culture in ancient China.
