I Am a Member of Hongyan (Wo Shi Hongyan Ren)

Bok av Li Hua
On November 27, 1960, the school organized a tomb-sweeping activity in Gele Mountain. The day before the activity, I was very excited; starting from the evening, my parents began to prepare everything for me: water jug, paper-wrapped cookies, unpacked sugars, oranges and sand-fried peas. In bed, I repeatedly asked my parents whether everything had been well prepared; and I also, for many times, got up to check whether they were properly placed. It was the first time I had gone to the martyrs' tomb in Gele Mountain, so I was too excited to fall asleep; in the whole night, I, for many times, wakened my families to ask the time for fear of being late. To eliminate my worries, I set the alarm clock 2 hours earlier. When the alarm clock went off in the morning, I jumped out of bed and complained to my families: why don't you wake me earlier? The consequence will be severe if I am late. In my noise, dad immediately filled the water jug with water, mom dressed me and my elder brother helped me prepare the fried noodles...Without get everything prepared, I had put on my shoes and schoolbag (with water jug) like a soldier and then rushed to the school...
