State, Market and Opportunities for Living of Peasants : Experience from Countryside of Guangdong, China (1978-2004)

Dialogue with the relevant references of levelled research on Chinese rural society in four aspects: firstly, introduce the "e;peasants' burden"e; variable; secondly, describe the changes in the relative advantages of rural carders and their roles; thirdly, understand the market reform as the process of market penetration and classify the rural economy of Guangdong into three types accordingly: new cooperative economy, suburb economy and local economy, breaking through the limit of available references that understand market reform only as "e;transformation"e;; finally, establish the relevant supposition on how the state and market interact with each other and influence the opportunity of individual life and advance the interpretation from the angle of "e;state-market interaction"e;.
