That Britain started industrial revolution in 18th century and completed its urbanization in mid 19th century is not a history chance and mutation, but the inevitable evolution result of rural labor transfer and urbanization since the middle ages. Tracing and study of this historical phenomenon is conducive to deepening our understanding of modernization and urbanization origin. The book briefly sketches a historical rural picture of the road of modernization from 11th to 18th century of over 700 years. By horizontal comparison with continental European countries and longitudinal comparison with the classical age and industrial revolution, it reveals characteristics of England in medieval and early modern history, sets up a bridge of communication between ancient and modern societies, and interprets the change from traditional civilization to modern industrial society from a new perspective.
