Poetics of Space

La poétique de l'espace
Bok av Gaston Bachelard
This book was first published in 1957. Under the atmosphere where the late modern architectural culture is almost suffocating, the book launches a unique thinking and imagination from the perspective of phenomenology and symbolic significance of the building. The author thinks that space is not the container for filling objects, but the residence of human consciousness and architecture is the poetics of dwelling. The most exciting part of this book is the description and imagination to the intimate space. He points out that the home is the corner for people in the world, the image of the home reflects the intimate, lonely and enthusiastic conditions. We are in our houses and our houses are within us. We poetically construct the house, the house also spiritually construct us.
